Do you remember the first time you stood at the edge of a room thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can do this’? Maybe not. Not many people do. You might not remember the first steps, but if you dig deep, you might remember how you felt. Maybe you remember the excitement before walking onto a stage, the friendships formed between rehearsals, the warmth of having someone you love cheering you on, or the confidence that follows you home after class.
Those moments are reminders that movement isn’t necessarily about becoming the perfect dancer. Sometimes, it’s actually about becoming more comfortable just being yourself. Whether you’re someone who is stepping into a dance class for the first time or you’re finding your way back to a passion for dance, the experience doesn’t just come from learning the choreography. It is a chance to grow, and discover strengths that will extend far beyond the dance floor.
Evolve Dance & Fitness Studio is an inclusive movement and performing arts studio in Eustis, Florida. This brand is grounded in the belief that everybody deserves a safe place to grow through meaningful experiences. They offer opportunities for children, teens, and adults to find their confidence and creativity, build friendships, and create lifelong memories while also embracing who they are.
Dance can also offer something that extends beyond the physical act of moving. Research published in Frontiers in Psychology has explored associations between dance participation and areas such as emotional well-being, social connection, and quality of life across different populations. People naturally have different experiences, but the findings reflect the idea that movement may support both physical and emotional wellness when paired with a balanced lifestyle.

It All Started with a Simple Idea
Founder Marcia Van de Kieft spent many years working with children and families before she decided to open her own studio. She has extensive experience supporting children with diverse needs. This experience, combined with raising two neurodivergent children herself, helped create and define the vision of what she wanted her dance studio to eventually become. She didn’t want to create an environment where the focus was only on technical achievement. Instead, she wanted to shape a space where everyone could feel accepted, encouraged, and celebrated.
The butterfly that makes an appearance in the studio’s logo also has meaning. It is inspired by her late father, who sadly passed away from Huntington’s disease in 2020. The butterfly serves as a symbol of transformation, resilience, and hope, while the intentional use of the color blue honors awareness for Huntington’s Disease. This serves as a beautiful reminder that growth usually comes from the most challenging moments in life.
At Evolve Dance & Fitness Studio, programs have been designed for people with varying backgrounds, experience levels, and abilities. To create an atmosphere where everyone has the chance to participate, they offer specialized adaptive movement opportunities, family-centered classes, and community performances.
Think of a young girl who is standing backstage before her very first community performance. She’s likely extremely nervous, and her hands are softly shaking as the music starts to echo. And then, suddenly she’s surrounded by supportive classmates who are encouraging her, and that nervousness slowly turns into real excitement. And when the crowd claps loudly, it’s recognition for having the bravery to step out onto the stage in the first place.
A child who once hid behind a parent may eventually be the one waving from the stage. A teenager who arrived knowing no one may leave with a new group of friends. An adult who hasn’t danced in years may discover that being a beginner again can be surprisingly freeing.
Designed Around Real Life
Your movement changes as you move through life. As a young child, you might learn better coordination through playing, while teenagers often find confidence and friendship through new experiences and challenges, and adults are often looking for ways that they can remain active while reconnecting with activities they genuinely enjoy.
The studio’s programs reflect that natural progression, offering different ways to move, learn, and connect at every age.

The Youth Programs aim to offer an environment where children are able to explore more while also supporting confidence building and helping them develop important life skills.
Key highlights include:
- Classes for toddlers through teenagers.
- Multiple dance styles for different interests and experience levels.
- The EVX (The Evolve Experience) performance program for ages two through eighteen.
- Opportunities to perform throughout Central Florida at festivals, sporting events, parades, and community events.
- Adaptive movement experiences through Dance Without Limits.
- A focus on teamwork, creativity, leadership, and positive mentorship.
- Annual themed showcase productions that celebrate student growth.
While students are offered the chance to perform, the main focus lies in helping them grow at their own pace. This ensures that they feel comfortable enough to have fun while learning in a supportive environment with their friends.

For many adults, movement can become less about competition and more about maintaining energy, easing everyday stress, and reconnecting with activities they genuinely enjoy.
The studio’s Adult Programs offer a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced participants alike.
Program highlights include:
- Yoga classes.
- Salsa instruction.
- Line dancing.

Instead of expecting everyone to fit into one lifestyle when it comes to movement, this brand allows people to explore different activities that feel enjoyable, sustainable, and meaningful.
The Part People Remember Most
Learning choreography is only one part of the experience. Some of the most meaningful lessons often take place in between rehearsals, performances, and the friendships that are created along the way.
Throughout the year, students perform at festivals, sporting events, parades, and other community events across Central Florida. These experiences give students opportunities to build confidence, practice teamwork, share their love of dance and performance, and give back to the community. This studio also supports many local initiatives through food drives, fundraising efforts, and education partnerships, reinforcing the idea that dance can bring people together in meaningful ways.
At the end of every year, Evolve Dance & Fitness Studio puts on a new themed showcase. This gives students the chance to work towards a shared goal while celebrating their progress. The studio is currently preparing for its fifth-season showcase, A Night at the Oscars, a celebration of music, creativity, and performance.
In the next few years, you probably won’t even remember every routine that you practiced. Instead, you’ll remember the friendships, the encouragement, and the confidence you discovered along the way. Evolve Dance & Fitness Studio is creating a place where people of all ages can try something new, find their people, and discover that they don’t have to be perfect to feel at home.
