Healthy Heart, Happy Brain!
Having a healthy heart and a happy brain supports our well being and health. They are our vital organs that need ongoing focus and support. Of course, there are many ways that we can take better care of both heart and brain- plenty of exercises, great nutrition, having adequate rest and hydration are key to boost natural function.
However, our internal organs don’t always get the support they need, sometimes we become heavily focused on our physical appearance and lose sight of our internal health. When you approach health and well being in a more holistic way- the benefits can really impact your life for the better.
We need to remember that the heart and brain are muscles; they need to be fed and fueled well in order to work at their best and strongest. If we look at heart disease, there are many things that we can do to help prevent it through better nutrition.
Here are a few tips to heart health!
-
Ensure you have enough healthy fats in your diet (High in Omega 3 fatty acids) and limit saturated fats- these should present no more than around 5% of your daily diet. Introduce better oils into your diet, such as olive oil. Healthy fats support your arteries and are good for improving cholesterol levels.
-
Nuts and seeds are great for heart and brain health also. Adding flaxseeds to your diet can help boost heart health and they are also high in fiber. They are simple to add to foods, grind them and sprinkle on your yogurt or cereal.
-
Limit salt intake. Salt is often the hidden “baddie” in many processed foods and meats. Worst still, we commonly add more salt! Too much sodium in the diet can cause high blood pressure and heart disease. Avoid adding salt to foods and choose rock salt over table salt- rock salt is a little easier to control from the grinder as you put it on food. How much salt should you be having daily? Ideally no more than around a teaspoon full!
Your body is a smart thing
Making changes sooner rather than later can help to reboot your health for the better. It’s never too late to make small changes that impact your well being in a big way! Our brains are susceptible to oxidative stress- eating well and staying active helps to stimulate and support better brain function.
Here are some small changes that can assist in better brain health too.
-
Exercise your brain. Your brain is a muscle, you can improve your brain health through an activity that helps coordination, boosts your memory and cognitive skills, and problem-solving. Try puzzles, word searches, reading and recalling information.
-
Fuel your brain. Food fuels your brain to work at its strongest. Healthy fats and oils are essential for a happy brain. Eat oily fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel or sardines twice a week. Omega 3 fatty acids aid in protecting the brain cells and can help to increase blood flow to the brain.
-
Eat your berries! Berries are very high in anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants can help reduce inflammation, boost learning and memory power and delay cognitive decline.
Dark chocolate is also great brain-boosting food! Make sure that it’s high in cacao- at least 70%. Cacao is a potent anti-oxidant.
Having a healthy heart and happy brain provides a strong foundation for increased health and well being. Natural medicine and foods are potent and powerful in helping you to achieve better health. Whether you do so through foods or supplements, or both- do something today that helps you grow stronger, happier and healthier!

Food Enzymes can be found in different foods, such as Papain in Papaya and Bromelain in Pineapple.
These enzymes break down the intake of food particles for storage in the liver and muscles. Botanical ingredients provide natural SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) and many other health benefits.
-
Functional Enzymes are often divided into two parts: Digestive Enzymes and Metabolic Enzymes.
-
Pancreatin is a Digestive Enzyme which contains Amylase and Lipase. Amylase breaks down carbohydrates and special types of sugar while Lipase breaks down to fats or fatty acids, glycerols or other alcohols.
-
Metabolic Enzymes catalyze various chemical reactions within the cells, such as SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) which is an excellent antioxidant that protects the cells from common free radical attaching. Catalase is a good partner working with SOD for energy production and detoxification in the body.
Ceru-Enzyme Complex is a natural dietary food supplement that provides a wealth of enzymes for your body’s needs.
