Creating Calm for Well-Being
In a world that is so full of things to do or be done, it pays to remember the beauty of introducing some calm time into your daily life. Creating calm in your world is just as important to wellbeing as eating well and staying active. Striving for a sense of peace in an increasingly busy world helps you to manage your mental and emotional world. This, in turn, helps to reduce the levels of stress, worry, and anxiety many of us can be prone to when we deny ourselves a much-needed time-out.
Stress can eat away at all your efforts to stay healthy. It can impact your immune system, cause inflammation within your body, affect your ability to digest and absorb the nutrients from food, and impair your sleep and heart health. Stress and the constant “busyness” of life can also severely impact your mind and attitude to life as well as your memory, overall mood, and cognitive skills.
So how can you create calm?
You can create a sense of calm in numerous ways, sometimes all we need is to step into our imagination and open our minds a little more. Here are some ideas for you!
-
Look at your environment, be it at work or at home. Seek out space where you can step back when you feel you need to. Maybe you have a park or some green space next to your place of work? You could make time for a 10-minute walk to mentally “reset” during your day. Or if you have a small, unused room or space at home that you could sculpt into a calm area you could look into Feng Shui as a guide to help you turn it into a peaceful little getaway for your mind and spirit!
-
Spend more time doing things that you enjoy. Things that make you feel happy. It may be gardening, dancing around your living room, spending time outdoors, or just sitting down reading a few pages of a good book. Time spent doing something that fulfills you emotionally and mentally is never wasted time, it is productive if it helps you to feel better- about yourself and the world around you!
-
Avoid things that keep you “switched on” all the time. This is a common mistake many of us make because we want to keep up with life! Coffee, energy drinks, energy bars, or sugary convenience foods that offer a quick fix can be detrimental to your health if you don’t balance them out with the good stuff such as water, fruits, vegetables, or home-baked healthy snacks. Life is all about balance, but balance is something that must be created!
If you do tend to overdo it on the caffeine fixes, tea can be a great substitute to help inspire a calmer demeanor. Tea is fast becoming just as popular in the beverage stakes as coffee, and with good reason! There are many benefits to tea, and California Tea House can help you explore them!

There are some amazing health benefits to tea, here are just a few!
Tea is the second most popular beverage in the world (second only to coffee!) and contains powerful antioxidants called polyphenols that inhibit harmful free radicals. Chinese herbalists have long revered the calming as well as medicinal properties of tea, often referring to them respectfully as healing teas.
There are different types of tea, and they all come with their unique wellness benefits. Black tea is the most popular, however green and white tea are having their time in the spotlight as people gain insight into their awesome anti-oxidant powers! And it doesn’t end there…Oolong Tea and Rooibos teas are also gaining momentum for their potency.
A cup of tea is good for you, no question! Here are some more benefits of tea for health and well-being!

Organic Silver Needle: Organic Silver Needle white tea is the High Society organic white tea from the Fuding and Zhenhe districts of the Fujian province of China, also known as Bai Hao Yinzhen.
California Tea House only carries the top buds available of its kind. This premier loose leaf white tea is picked between March 15 and April 10 when it is not raining, and they only use the undamaged and unopened buds. The process is governed by strict requirements to ensure you are receiving only the finest tea available.
Organic Silver Needle has a sweet, clean taste and is the Pinot Noir of teas as it is appreciated by the sophisticated pallet of seasoned tea connoisseurs.
It is simple to prepare! Allow 1 teaspoon of this tea per cup of below-boiling water as it is a delicate tea, you may use a longer steep time than most white teas; up to 3-5 minutes, or according to your tea-taste preference!
Bedtime Chai: This Bedtime Chai valerian, signals that sleepy time tea is finally back and improved.
Will (Co-Founder of California Tea House) wanted to double up the dose of Valerian Root so this bedtime blend was reworked with more creaminess, a bit of chai excitement, but with twice the Valerian power!
Bedtime Chai is a new and improved 'knock out' tea. It contains organic honeybush for its naturally soothing qualities, chamomile blossoms for a calm-inducing quality, cinnamon for some 'chai' zing, toasted rice, and whole cloves. Finally, this amazing tea is topped off with all organic vanilla pieces, organic nutmeg, and a nice dose of organic valerian root.
It’s so simple to make! Use 1 tablespoon to each cup of filtered water at a full boil then steep for 8 to 10 minutes. You can also try it with steamed milk and a tiny bit of California Tea House’s rock sugar, but it is just as amazing straight up!
