Getting older is a tough pill to swallow for many of us. And a lot of the time, we do not feel our age, whether we are 40, 50, or 60 and beyond. As long as we maintain our body as much as possible, age is just a number. Read on for some anti-aging tips!

Aging is a natural biological process that we cannot refute or deny. But what makes the difference between someone that is 60 but looks like they are 50, and others that look 50 but are 40? Genetics of course plays a role in how we look as we age, some of us just have a naturally more mature appearance, others a younger one.

There are numerous other factors though (outside of genetics). How we care for our body and overall wellbeing can make a massive impact on put individual aging process.

Just by taking some small steps each day, you can preserve the youth that you have and look and feel much better for it.

Here are 5 anti-aging and longevity tips!

  • Food is medicine. Food and nutrition play such a crucial role in how we look and feel. We cannot dismiss the effect a bad diet has on our body, short term or long term. And it is more than just eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day- although that may be a good start! A well-rounded diet that includes food from all food groups gives you the best chance of wellness. It’s easy to get into bad habits with food, so keep your food behavior in check and when you notice yourself slipping- get back on track!
  • Take daily supplements. Many minerals, vitamins, and proteins begin to decline as we get older, or perhaps we just need a little more as we age. For instance, the collagen goes into sharp decline from around the age of 30. Collagen is responsible for numerous functions in the body, it is the glue that holds you together and helps you to look younger. Magnesium is also crucial for nerve and muscle function. There are many more. Look after your body with supplements that support a robust nutritional regimen.
  • Spend time with younger people. Everyone has a different, individual energy. Children in particular have fearless, playful energy that will no doubt rub off on you. If you have grandkids spend some time playing with them, you’ll see the world from a whole new perspective and have some fun! Laughter keeps your energy levels and mood high. Aging is a mindset. Think younger to feel and look younger!
  • Replenish yourself by spending time outdoors. Breathe in the fresh air, go for a walk, and spend some time by the beach or your favorite place to relax. It may seem like a minor detail but the environment that surrounds you can have a dramatic impact on how you look and feel.
  • Embrace self-care-whatever that entails for you. A lot of the time we let the aging process outrun us. Stay one step ahead and keep yourself active, ensure you get the rest you need, and take some time out for yourself. Self-care can involve many different aspects for mind, body, and soul. We are not one-dimensional and so take a multi-pronged approach to your health and self-care.
