Give your smoothies a healthy and delicious boost with a few easy tips and techniques. Find suggestions on new ingredients to use, how to achieve a perfect texture and more...

1. Try new ingredients. Leafy greens are not just for salads. Spinach, arugula or kale are very healthy and surprisingly delicious in smoothies.

2. Add sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter drink, use natural agave, vanilla and honey to add sweetness and depth of flavor. Sweet fruits as mango, banana or papaya rich in Vitamin C, E do the job as well— not to mention the flavor boost!

3. Use frozen fruit for a better texture. Replace ice with frozen fruits. Not only is frozen fruit less expensive than fresh, it gives smoothies wonderful texture, and you don’t need ice. Buy organic frozen fruits and berries for additional health benefits and a better taste.

4. Consider dairy alternatives. Milk and yogurt give smoothies added flavor, creamy texture and protein.  Coconut, Almond or Cashew milk work well and bring new delicious taste. You can also add plain kefir or Greek yogurt, it is healthier and give you a looser texture.

5. More super foods. Use smoothies as a base for additional super foods, since a lot of our foods are deficient. Add some Maca or organic Lecithin. Ground flax and chia seeds make tasty, nutritious add-ins, as well.
