Started by Brooklyn-based founder Gene Zhu (with a little elbow grease and a lot of love from his mom), Afar was born out of pure frustration: there just weren’t any savory protein bars out there that tasted good. After eating too many sweet, sticky disappointments, Gene asked the big question: “What if we turned global comfort foods into a high-protein, low-sugar snack?”
