Most of us know by now that the skin is the largest organ and is susceptible to all manner of ailments. A recent study from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health found that as many as one in three people suffer from one kind of skin disorder or another. From acne and eczema to psoriasis and skin cancer, most of us have battled a nagging skin problem.
In the modern world where medical care is widely available and there’s a pill for every ill, nobody should be living with chronic illness. Sadly, this is not the case.
If you were to see a doctor for eczema treatment, you would be prescribed a pharmaceutical steroid or antibiotic and told it was your only option for healing. Desperate for relief, you would probably fill the prescription and one of two things would happen.
First, the drug could provide temporary relief. Your eczema would subside and a myriad of side effects like sleeplessness, mood swings, and weight gain would take its place. Then, after a few weeks of recovering from the steroid, your eczema would return and you’d be back to square one.
The second possibility is the drug wouldn’t work at all but you would still have to contend with the side effects of the medication.
