Jessica looked out at the darkening sky. It was early on a summer day, and the air was still cool. Perfect for Jessica’s morning jog.
She used to be ashamed of her fitness level. However, her efforts seemed to be paying off over the last six months. She had lost most of the weight, which was a significant goal. And as a side effect, most days, she felt like she had more energy and a sharper mind.
Today she was racing an incoming storm. Jessica figured if she hurried around and got out the door, those dark clouds wouldn’t make it until after her run. The exercise was an essential part of her plan for self-improvement. Also, she had changed her eating habits, eating less junk and more whole, unprocessed foods.
She opted for a quick stretch before her jog. As she stretched down to touch her toes, she felt it. She had immense shooting pain in the back of her right thigh. Her muscle felt frozen. She immediately sat down and started feeling her leg.
The muscle was knotted mass. She had what felt like the mother of all cramps. How could this happen? What was going on? With her mind toward health and wellness, she couldn’t get around what was happening.
