There are many people who struggle daily because of their sensitive stomachs and can’t enjoy the simple things in life. We know this because many of our customers shared their struggles with us –battling digestive issues and sacrificing their love of food because of their stomachs. That fueled our dedication to creating something that enables everyone to relish delicious food without fearing the outcome.

Meet the Founder
Gourmend’s founder, Ketan Vakil, is a passionate foodie who personally understands the challenges of living with digestive issues. Because he, too, struggled with perplexing stomach problems that took years of medical consultations and testing to diagnose. Eventually, he discovered that his discomfort was caused by an intolerance to foods high in FODMAPs (which are carbs that are difficult to digest for some people).
For Ketan, this diagnosis was both a relief and a new challenge. Growing up in a multicultural family in one of the world’s culinary capitals, he was accustomed to a rich and diverse diet. However, following a low-FODMAP diet meant giving up many of the ingredients he loved, like garlic, onions, honey, and legumes. As someone who cherished the art of cooking and the pleasure of eating, this was bad news.
