“Feel the burn,” well, Sara was certainly feeling it. The day was warm, and there wasn’t much breeze. This didn’t help Sara out much, either. The sweat dripped from her forehead, followed her nose, and down to the ground. It formed a small puddle between her feet as she bent over to catch her breath.
She had made it halfway to her goal, standing at the top of a long valley. It started at her house on the top of one rise. It then sloped down from her home to the bottom of a “V” and began its rapid ascent to the other side.
The round trip from her house, traveling down and then up the valley twice, was nearly two miles. And this steep valley had been her nemesis for the last four months. She began on New Year’s day with her stout resolution. To get into better shape and improve her energy and stamina.

Sara stood at the top of the valley, sweat pouring from her. She took in and let out slow, deep breaths. Looking at her smartwatch, Sara was once again disappointed. Her time to jog up this hill and back hadn’t improved much in the last four months. “How can this be,” she thought to herself.
She knew there was something else she could be doing. However, the answer eluded her. She also knew that she would probably never have the endurance, stamina, and energy levels of her 20s or 30s. But Sara longed to improve her fitness. It seemed like she had hit a plateau and couldn’t continue making progress.
