I looked at other brushes online where people preferred that the bristles not be inset into plastic (as this one is), but the ones that went straight into wood seemed to have bristles fall out more often. I've had this roughly a week and used it twice a day, and I haven't lost any bristles. It's firm and scratchy, but still soft enough to not be at all painful, even on my torso.
